MARINE APPLICATION WATER PUMP
Fits BIG BLOCK CHEVY 454 / 7.4L, BUT ROTATION IS DIFFERENT
This pump will bolt onto many GM 454 engines found in Chevy/GMC trucks & vans,
however it is built for a MARINE setup.
The main (and critical) difference is the direction of rotation.
WHY ROTATION MATTERS (READ THIS)
Water pump rotation is not “just the pulley turning the other way.”
Inside the pump there is a wheel that looks like a small fan.
The correct term is the IMPELLER (also called vanes or blades).
The shape/curve of the impeller vanes is designed to move coolant correctly in ONE direction only. If you run the pump in the wrong direction, coolant flow will be poor and it can cause overheating.

THIS IS A CCW ROTATION PUMP (MARINE)
CCW = Counter-Clockwise Rotation (verify based on your marine belt/drive setup).
Many automotive GM applications use the opposite rotation. Do NOT assume interchange just because it bolts on.

COMPATIBILITY NOTES
- Will mount to: Big Block Chevy 454 / 7.4L long-style water pump applications.
- Fits physically: Many GM truck/van 454 setups (bolt pattern & housing style).
- Key difference: Rotation direction determined by impeller vane design.
- Buyer responsibility: Match rotation to your marine accessory drive system.
QUICK VOCAB (IN CASE YOU NEED THE WORDS)
- Impeller = the internal “fan-looking” wheel that moves coolant.
- Vanes / Blades = the curved fins on the impeller.
- Housing = the pump body.
- Rotation = CW (clockwise) or CCW (counter-clockwise).
If you message me your exact marine engine setup (brand/model or belt routing),
I can help confirm whether you need CCW or the opposite rotation.
